Scholarships
Private lessons – The Lygo Scholarship
Through the legacies of Charles Lygo, Betty Grandy and Jean Tunbridge, competitive scholarship awards are available to current and continuing Academy students in the areas of voice, piano, strings, guitar, woodwinds and brass. The value of a scholarship is $100-300.
Post Secondary Music Scholarships
The Joanne Patricia Stoutjesdyk Memorial Scholarship is a competitive award for classical music students pursuing a teaching career in music at an accredited college or university. The value of the award is $400.
The 89.5 The Hawk scholarships are open to first- or second-year post-secondary music students in any area of musical studies at an accredited college or university. The value of the award is $1500.
Bursaries
Through funding from 89.5 The Hawk and the generosity many individuals in the Chilliwack community, the Academy is able to provide financial assistance for students in our community who would not ordinarily be able to afford music lessons. The value of a bursary is up to 50% of a student’s estimated annual private lesson tuition.
Applications and Deadline
Scholarship and bursary applications are available for download below, from your Academy teacher, or from the Academy office. All scholarship and bursary applications are due at 4:30 pm April 1 of each year. (If the 1st falls on a weekend, applications are due the following Monday.) Late applications are not considered.
